Immaculate Conception - Irresistible grace

Immaculate Conception
In Roman Catholic theology, the dogma that Mary was born by virtue of an "immaculate conception" whereby she had an earthly father and mother, but was redeemed perfectly from the moment of her conception, with the result that Mary was not only free from all personal sin, but free from the possibility of all sin. So, not only did Mary not sin, she could not sin.
Protestants sometimes mistakenly believe that the "immaculate conception" refers to the conception of Jesus.
Imminency
The view that the Bible teaches that there are no prophecies which must be fulfilled nor are there any signs which must occur prior to Christ's rapture of the Church, and therefore the Rapture is a could-happen-at-any-moment event.
Impeccability
According to the doctrine of impeccability, Jesus could not sin. This is in contrast to "peccability" which means that Jesus could have sinned. Independent of one's view concerning whether Jesus could or could not sin, the accepted orthodox view is that he did not.
Inductive reasoning
Reasoning that moves from known facts or assumed premises to broader postulated conclusions. It is reasoning from the specific to the general. It is the opposite of deductive reasoning.
Example of inductive reasoning: If I examine every dog in my hometown and find that they all have four legs, then I might postulate that every dog in my state have four legs. If later I am able to examine all the dogs in my state and find one that has only three legs, then I know that my postulation is wrong.
Example of deductive reasoning: If I examine every dog in my hometown and find that they all have four legs, then it is necessarily true that every dog on a given street in my town have four legs. If I haven't examined every dog in my home town, but start with the premise that every dog in my town has four legs, then I would expect every dog on a given street to have four legs. If I examine the dogs on a given street and find one that has only three legs, then I know my premises are wrong.

Inerrancy
The view that the Bible is completely without error of any kind in the original manuscripts. This extends to all matters, whether factual, historical, scientific, theological, etc.

Intermediate state
The condition in which humans exist between the time of their physical death and their physical resurrection. This is not a state of "soul-sleep," but of conscious existence, either experiencing joy in the presence of the Lord for the saved or experiencing pain and suffering in hell (hades) for the lost.
