Literal grammatical historical interpretation

Lordship Salvation
The view that a call to submit to the Lordship of Christ is an inherent part of the gospel and that saving faith necessarily includes such submission. Opponents of this view contend that including such a commitment amounts to adding works (at least in forethought) to faith as the conditions for salvation, by requiring a promise or commitment to obedience to the Lord. Lordship salvation proponents argue that Christ repeatedly included a call to forsake one's sinful lifestyle and "take up one's cross" to follow him. It is further stated by some that to not include this tantamount to offering "cheap grace." Opponents counter that this confuses evangelism and discipleship issues and that these were calls to discipleship to which only someone who is already a believer can respond.
