Brian McClaren to Participate in Ramadan
Please read this comment first: Brian McLaren is going to join with his Muslim “brothers and sisters” (his words) by participating in Ramadan. According to Islam tradition, Ramadan is the month when the Q’uran was revealed to Mohammed, the prophet). McClaren’s philosophy toward other religions, particularly Islam, is gaining more popularity among “evangelicals.” Recently, Rick Warren addressed a convention of the Islamic Society in North America. One of McLaren’s more troubling remarks is that he refers to Muslims as “brothers and sisters” (as noted above) in a statement that appears to have universalistic undertones (from his overall theology, I would say this is probably, although I can’t say that with certainty because of lack of context here.)
